Holy Synod

The Synodal Assembly is composed of the Primate Emeritus, three Metropolitan Archbishops, one Episcop and one Archdeaconess.

The Vicar General, proposed by the Primate and elected by the Synodal Assembly, is H.R.H. Father Giovanni Luca, Prince-Abate of Seborga, Metropolitan Archbishop for Northern Italy, the Abbey Principality of Seborga and the Principality of Monaco.

The role of Chancellor was conferred by the Holy Synod, at the proposal of the Primate, on Father Eliseo, Metropolitan Archbishop for Central Italy and the Islands.

The Holy Synod meets once a year, on the day of Pentecost, to deliberate on the Primate’s proposals.

It is convened by the Vicar General in the event of the Primate’s predecease or definitive incapacity in order to elect a new Pastor to lead the Church.

The Metropolies:

– Metropolia of Northern Italy, the Abbey Principality of Seborga and the Principality of Monaco

– Metropolia of Central Italy and the Islands

– Metropolia of Southern Italy

The College of Bishops was established to support the Holy Synod.
The College of Corepiscopal Bishops is presided over by the Primate, assisted by the Vicar General and the Chancellor and currently composed of one Igumen and two Mitered Archpriests. The College has a consultative and propositional function and meets twice a year or at the proposal of the Primate.
